recommendations fully with the Committee,
and
he accepts their proposals in all respects
except in the matter of rent and lodging
allowances, in which he advises that serving
officers should for the time being be allowed
retain
to reclaim the advantages of their existing and
more favourable terms.
On pages 24 and 25 of the report
are the Committee's recommendations for the
remuneration of certain senior officers mostly
in professional departments. They ask that
this may be closely scrutinized at the Colonial
Office in the light of the information available
here of salaries prevailing for such officers
at home and in other Colonies. On pages 30-33
the Committee make recommendations for the
remuneration of Class I in the Cadet
Service and for certain senior grades of the
P.W.D., Medical, Legal, Educational and Police
Departments. These are amongst the Committee's
proposals which the Governor fully accepts and
supports. He explains that the Anomalies
Committee have taken a limited view of their
function and have based their recommendations
as regards salaries, etc., on the general level which the parent Committee have established, but
